Lake Martha Lake Association

Meeting Minutes

Monday, June 9, 2003

The meeting was called to order at 7:25pm at the home of Dave & Rosie Tabbut – 777 Hammond Ave SE.  There were 11 people representing 8 member households in attendance.  Confusion as to the Lake Martha qualifications of a quorum – 10 paid members or 50% of the current paid members - caused the meeting to be delayed, yet everyone drank lots of beer, ate delicious treats & socialized during that delay.  Bill Tregaskis will check the Bylaws for the Lake Martha definition of a quorum for future meetings.

Pending the Bylaw review, the minutes from the May 12th meeting was accepted as written.

Joy Morris reported that to date 11 member households have paid.  Last year 26 members had paid.  Mike Rydberg said that 27 households signed up for the weed treatment, so he & Joy will cross reference those participants to confirm that everyone taking advantage of Lake Association Discounts have paid the Association Dues.  Joy also reported that the checking and savings accounts have a total of $1,579.73

Mike Rydberg reported that the Lake weed treatment was a success as the weeds are gone

& there were no complaints.  Bruce Biederman stated that St. Paul is having the same weed problems.  Coontail is the next weed that people will see in the Lake , yet it is a “good” weed.  Bill Tregaskis suggests that we have this service again next year.

Bruce Biederman said that they tried to collect the cutter boat parts on Forsberg’s property twice, but it rained both times.

Mike Rydberg mentioned that Kevin Potter has the petition for Halsey being paved.  At the Winter Social a Lake Charlotte resident said that she heard that Halsey & 9th Street will be combined & treated as one street.

The Lake Martha Annual Picnic is scheduled for the August 16th, with the 23rd as an alternate due to weather.  It will be held on the lawns of John & Theresa Witstine & Jim & Angela Miller on 9th Street – same as last year.  A Biff will be rented again.  Theresa, Angela, Jeanni Tregaskis, & Rosie Tabbut will be on the planning meeting - volunteers for the different activities will be needed.  The “Guys” will collect & deliver tables in the morning as in the past.  The activities that were suggested are another fishing contest, a triatholon, & the bean bag toss of the Kasa’s.  Bill Tregaskis suggested that the Cooleys be invited this year, even though they have moved already.

Dave Tabbut has accepted the position of Web Master.  Take a look at the website as it is up to date – www.lakemartha.com.  Dave will add pictures or anything else, just e-mail him.

Bill Tregaskis said that he was pleased with the restoration of his lawn – his retaining wall was fixed after it collapsed.  Dan Frump agreed of the company’s professionalism.  He said that the Lake Association should send a Thank You letter.  Rosie Tabbut agreed.  Bill will write & send the letter, plus he’ll send a copy to Jack, the County Commissioner.

Dave Tabbut has yet to receive word from the guy that was checking with the Wright-Hennepin Board of Directors in regards to the fiber-optic line along Hwy 33 and DSL being brought to the Lake area.

Jeanni Tregaskis brought up the idea of a For Sale area on the website.  Mike Rydberg said that it is not possible with the server & to just send e-mails.

Theresa Witstine had a great joke to wind up the meeting, yet I’m not good with jokes, so ask her to tell you the next time you see her.

Pending the Bylaw review, Jeanni Tregaskis motioned to adjourn the meeting.  Several people seconded.  The meeting adjourned at 8:00pm.
