Lake Martha Lake Association

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:15pm at the home Craig & Julie Kasa – 7252 9th Street SE.  There were 10 people representing 7 member households in attendance.

Joy Duenwald presented the treasurer’s report, which included the refund of 2003 dues to Brad & Sharyl Miller, Ron Schroedl, and Jim & Rhonda Triplett – these residents were new in 2003 Association season, yet paid dues for 2003 & 2004 despite the ruling of free Association dues for the first year of new residents.  As of April 15, 2004, the checking and savings accounts have a total of $2,445.98.  Joy also reported that 37 households have paid to date.

The minutes from the April 9, 2004, meeting were accepted as written.

The Directory is waiting to get to the printer with all updates.  The Annual Picnic that will be held on the properties of Craig & Julie Kasa and Bill & Jeanni Tregaskis is scheduled for August 21, 2004.

Mary Leffler said that they will get a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” package together that will include the Lake Directory and possibly some coupons to local businesses.  She would like people to let the Hospitality Committee know when new people move in.

Mike Rydberg stated that the weed treatment permit was received on May 8th.  The coverage is 100 feet out and a maximum of 100 feet of shoreline per household.  If weather permits, the lake will be treated on May 18th – no markers on the beaches are necessary.  The reading for the proper temperature needs to be taken at 2-3 feet.

Craig Kasa gave the secchi disk to Sue Brallier.  The reading and reporting is required once per month, but once per week would be better to track the improvement of the lake quality.  Mike Rydberg attended the Township meeting in search of support for the catch basins.   The Township did not care as they are county roads.

Brad Miller needs some help to remove the cutter boats and trailer for scrap.  He believes that there is only one trailer still on Forsberg’s property.

Dave Tabbut said that everything on the website is pretty current.  He doesn’t have an update on the number of hits.  He added a picture of Andy Brallier’s new blue plane.  Dave would like any and all ideas of things to put on the website.  There are no phone numbers listed on the website.

Brad Burn’s presented the petition to get Halsey paved.  The number of signatures were too close to call, yet the names and addresses were way over the minimum.  The Township passed the work-up of a feasibility study.

Sue Brallier has not received a call back regarding the mosquito treatments, yet she will give an update as she gets the information.  Rosie Tabbut was also checking on this topic and will also share her findings once completed.

Purple flyers were passed out with the Annual Garage Sale information.  It will be held on Saturday, June 12th, at 9:00 to 5:00 – the same weekend of the Rockford Citywide Sales.  Sue Brallier has a sign that anyone can use.

Dishwasher soap has phosphorus, so try not to use it.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:59pm.
