Meeting Minutes

Friday, June 2, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:13pm at the home of Paul Johnson – 656 Halsey Avenue SE.  There were 17 people in attendance representing 11 households.

The minutes from the May meeting were accepted as written.

Angela Miller presented the treasurer’s report as Vicky Rydberg had forgotten her glasses - it was accepted.  The balances of the checking and savings accounts as of May 29, 2006, were $1,245.95 and $444.56, respectively.  Craig Kasa needs to be reimbursed $97.94 for the website set up.

There were no Hospitality Committee updates.

Jim Miller reported the last three secchi disk readings he took – 10.5 feet, 11 feet on Sunday & 11 feet today.

Paul J. asked Mike Rydberg about the copper sulfate treatment for the algae & about the equipment he used last year.  Paul J. volunteered to do it this year & Mike R. agreed to show him the procedure.  Paul J. predicted that it would have to be done earlier this year.  Mike R. said that 1,000 lbs of copper sulfate were used during the entire season last year.  He had made three applications with the first one being in mid-June.  Mike R. also stated that all of the materials purchased last year were used.  He mentioned that CentraSota had the best price – about $35 – $45 per bag.

The curly leaf has dropped in front of Mike R.’s house, but not in front of Dorothy Brede’s & past.  Randy Grossinger said that the weeds had not dropped by his house.  Jim & Angela Miller expressed the same results.  Pam Scott stated that she had cut weeds float up on her beach that were not dead.  Monday will be two weeks, so Craig K. will call to have MidWest Aqua Care check it out.

Craig K. said that Onyx gave him the price of $13 for a 95 gallon garbage can and $11.50 for a 65 gallon can.  The service also said that they would replace any broken cans, but to just pour bleach into sticky ones.  All decided to leave the service with Onyx for now.

Vicky R. presented the 2006 Directories and noted a typo on the ice out date for 2006.  The remaining directories will be distributed by Polly Willhite, Angela M, and Craig K.

Theresa Witstine, Angela M., Polly W., Mary Leffler, Trice Grossinger, and Julie Kasa volunteered to be on the Picnic Planning Committee with Vicky R.

Dave Tabbut mentioned that the new website is all updated.  He will double check the committees and the picnic information and correct if necessary.  Craig K. had put Dave T. as the administrator on the account.  Mike R. explained that when a registration expires it is open for anyone to purchase/renew.  A German company bought ours for a year to hold “hostage” in hopes that we would pay them to get it back.  Craig K. has registered the new site for two years.

There will be a township meeting on Tuesday to make a resolution for bids.  Mike R. said that he heard that all of the roads except 6th would be paved.

Kevin Potter said that a Qwest person was out to his house and had said that there were originally 12 people, but now 78 people on a box and that he could get more on it.  Kevin P. will send Craig K. that guys name and number to contact.  Angela M. will send out an e-mail to get a list of any interested people for that person.

Bruce Biederman motioned to adjourn at 7:45pm.  Scott Pearson seconded that motion.
