Lake Martha Lake Association

Meeting Minutes

Sunday, August 19, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 1:30pm at the home of Lance and Pam Scott – 7282 Ninth Street SE.  There were 13 people in attendance representing 9 households.

The minutes from the July meeting were accepted as written.

Vicky Rydberg presented the treasurer’s report, which was accepted.  The balances of the checking and savings accounts as of July 26, 2007, were $562.48 and $468.37, respectively.  Vicky R. stated that she ordered a box of checks and that the bank will start charging service fees for no activity.  She asked if the savings account should be closed.  Dave Tabbut said to just move some money from checking to savings and back again each month to avoid the service fees.

There are four bags of copper sulfate left.  Sandy Frump said that the lake is clear and beautiful and doesn’t need a treatment.  It was decided to skip picking up the other 10 bags on hold.

Pam S. mentioned that she was told everyone on Ninth Street would get sod instead of seed, but the Tregaskis’ is the only driveway marked for sod.  Sue Brallier said that they got a culvert that is too large, which created a ditch in her yard.  Sandy F. said that they got a lighted culvert.  Pam S. also said that you have to apply and pay a $25.00 fee before putting anything within 33 feet from the center of the road, then the Township has to inspect and approve it afterwards.  Dave T. said that they got a new layer of class 5 on his side of the Lake.

Lance S. suggested that we ask the DNR to put the trailer for recycling cans on their lot between Mullin’s and Loukusa’s.  Craig Kasa stated that he thought to put it on Brad Miller’s empty lot in order to catch the Charlotte traffic as well.  He said that we’ll still ask Frank to use his empty lot.

Sue B. brought up the curly leaf – Lake Restoration treats her parents’ lake when the water temperature is 50 degrees, not at 60 degrees like MidWest Aqua Care.  She stated that it was actually 74 degrees when they treated Lake Martha this year.  Theresa Witstine said that her weeds went to seed and never turned brown.  Sandy F. stated that Lake Martha should be done sooner as the ice is gone sooner than many other lakes in the area.  Craig K. suggested that people should start calling MidWest Aqua Care daily when the temperature is close to 60 degrees.

Dave T. said that the DSL box was put out and he hadn’t heard anything that they wouldn’t be on schedule.

Angela Miller said that the last secchi disc reading was at 4 ½ feet.

Craig K. motioned to adjourn at 2:00pm.  Lance S. and Theresa W. seconded.
