Lake Martha Lake Association

Meeting Minutes

April 11, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 3:46 pm by President Angela Miller.

Minutes from the March meeting were read and approve with one correction.

Jim Miller gave the treasurer’s report. The savings balance was $2,068.07 and the checking account balance was $926.09.  There was one disbursement for DNR permit for the weed treatment of $750. Jim has about $500. in checks from dues to deposit.

Paul Johnson reported we have 4 bags of copper sulfate on hand, and will check on the current price at Community Lawn Care. We usually use 5 bags per treatment.

We had a discussion concerning the possible change to DNR permit fees for weed treatments. It was suggested we consider applying as a group because the paperwork is a hassle. The level of participation has been a consistent 23. The Association discussed continuing paying a portion of the permit fee as incentive to keep the participation level up. Again, this is a DNR proposal, it has not been changed yet.

John Witstine inquired about state wide Lake Association working together for lobbing purposes.  He had heard a radio program concerning DNR regulation size of docks, how far out into the lake docks could extend and fees for putting docks in lakes.  Angela said she would look into it.

Jim will continue doing the MPCA Sechii Disc reading.

Angela will work on the Lake Directory and thought Mary would help. It was suggested we hire a printer like Kinko’s to print it for us.

Annual Picnic will be discussed at a later meeting with more attendants.

Paul said he, Bruce and Jim will continue doing the Aluminum Can Recycling.

We will ask Mary to continue doing the Hospitality; she does a really good job.

The Lake Charlotte Spring Social is April 16th, Angela sent out the E-mail. It is a buffet at Wild Marsh Golf Club this year. $18 a person.

Rockford Township Cleanup day is April 24th.  Check it out on the township web site.

Paul talked about the water sampling Lake Martha had a 3 year grant for.  The grant has expired and we need to pay $250 a year to continue this program.  Concerns regarding what benefits we will receive if we continue and if there where other grants available were discussed.  It was suggested we invite the guy to the next meeting.  Paul thought we had approved some money for this at the September meeting.  We are checking the minutes.  Paul is sending and E-mail with the link to the web site for the information on the water sampling that has been done.

Meeting was adjourned at 4:42 pm
