-        Tim Ortman asked about the fish kill due to treatment Sandy said it was not a significant “Fish Kill”

o   Dave Tabbut said it was due to heat not weed treatment

-        Fee is $35 for each household.  Cap has been changed to $2,500 from $750.

o   If we get milfoil would that be covered from the treatment (Question to be asked)

§  Decide if we charge $10 for each household

-        Bill & Joyce.  Motion to keep the fee at $10 per household and the lake association pays the rest.  The lake association voted and agreed.  100% in favor

PLM milfoil info – Theresa:

-        Tereasa motion pay PLM Brainerd to do a Milfoil Survey and Al second the motion.

o   Offered up to do the plant survey to look for Milfoil to see if we have Milfoil up to $1,350, will check 125 points.

o   Al would like to know how soon Lake Association will be notified once it is determined.  Tereasa to ask that when PLM Brainerd does the survey.

o   Dave Tabbut called for a vote and 100% of the association was in favor of doing the lake survey and for it to come out of the lake association budget

New Business/Additional Comments:

-        Nancy Haligan asked John Witstine to look into LID, so John presented his findings.

o    (Lake Improvement District) - A LID is a local governmental unit, a political subdivision, established by resolution of a county board, city council or by the commissioner of the department of natural resources. A LID allows for greater local involvement in lake management activities.)

o   A LID essentially becomes a layer of government and taxing authority.  It can assist in getting potential government funding more easily.  The main things they deal with are . . .

§  Manage Water Level

§  Manage Water Quality

§   Manage Aquatic Vegetation

o   To start potentially get a petition if 50% or more sign then take it to local government and they approve then DNR approves, then you get a LID.

o   Unsure if fees are associated with a LID

o   Sandy Frump may need to look into closing the access if others are bringing in weeds.  Can possibly petition to close the public access

o   Potential to help with funding it may be easier with a LID

o   Lake Martha association had no interest at this time in pursuing a LID

Theresa mentioned that Jim wanted to let everyone that corner of Hamilton and 9th Street he recycles aluminum cans and puts the money towards the association.

o   Mentioned we should put the lawn care / can recycling / Randy’s benefits on the website

-        Miller trucking who provides us with sand gives the lake association members a get a 10% discount and make a $110 donation towards the lake association.

o   Bill gave Nate the check for the $110 to provide to Jim Miller

o   Bill to contact Randy’s Sanitation about new people to lake

o   Anchor Marine will provide a 5% to 10% discount to lake association members

-        Dave mentioned if there are any changes or updates to the website please contact him at dtabbut@yahoo.com

-        Next meeting is June 9th.  Bill and Joyce will host.

-        Lake Picnic currently set for August 22nd

Joyce motion to adjourn, Bill second the motion, meeting end 8:05PM
