New Business:
New officers will be elected in July.
New Algae Plan (Chad and Joe reporting):
Summer Aeration for Algae Control:
Keeps oxygen levels up, and internal phosphorus under control
External sources of phosphorus will also have to be addressed
Chad reported that he has been managing aeration of a lake up north for
10 years and it works. Aeration turns the lake over three times a day,
delivering oxygen to the depths of the lake. Good oxygen levels in a
lake is healthy for fish.
Committee members received a bid from ADS for $18,616 but it is
estimated that the committee can do it themselves for $10,216.92. A
breakdown of the costs and an explanation of how the system works was
handed out. Estimate cost per household for this system: $250 to $500,
depending on participation. There are a little over 30 households in the
association, and about 20 more on the lake.
A GoFundMe page was suggested for fundraising.
Algae/Weed Treatment Committee:
(Decision: This committee will be called the Water Quality
Committee):
This committee will continue oversee the aeration
project, and call for volunteers where needed.
Committee members: Matt, Chad, Joe and Jim
Another meeting regarding this issue will be held May 2, 7:00 pm, Caitlin’s
house
Decision: We will continue with Midwest Aqua Care for one more year, and a
weed treatment committee will be decided at the July meeting.
There was discussion regarding the association treating the
lake ourselves in the future, rather than Midwest Aqua Care.
Old Business:
Water that is flowing into our lake from the farm field, the
woods, etc. The Water Quality Committee will look into it.
Meeting adjourned at 8:21 pm
Next Meetings:
May 2, 7:00 pm – Caitlin’s house
July 20, 3:30 pm Meeting and Picnic – Caitlin’s backyard
