We’ve collected $7200.00 so far. Joe and Chad donated the balance of the total cost and purchased the equipment. We need to raise funds to replace what they donated.
Knock on doors. Carolyn put a flier together and will print them. Carolyn, Jane, Caitlin and Lisa will distribute. It was suggested that while handing them out, we talk with people about the benefits of joining the association – discounts on garbage and lawn aeration, etc.
It was suggested that we make a sign to post either at the boat launch or on Caitlin’s property regarding the GoFundMe account. Jaime will check with the DNR. So far, no volunteers to make the sign.
Joe answered questions about the system:
Is our electricity involved?
There’s a box with low pressure air pumps. The power ends at the box. What goes in the lake has no electricity and no oil. Chad has worked with the DNR. Electricity will be $200 to $250 per month, funded by association fees.
What about anchors?
The diffuser is sitting on the end of a hose. Worse case scenario, they tear the hose. Or our diffuser is moved. We will see where the air bubbles are coming up and move it back to where it belongs. It’s not just a plastic line in the lake, it’ll be twisted with stainless steel.
Maintenance
Annual maintenance will be for the motor brushes, which are replaceable and low cost – about $15 each. The diffusers have a 15 to 20 year life span.
Will we see bubbles?
Yes. Look up industrial air diffusers on You Tube, for more information.
Will it help with the green sludge?
Yes.
Will we see results this summer?
Yes, some results this summer but not the full effect yet.
We still have concerns about what is coming into the lake from the inlet on the east side of the lake.
The committee is going to look at this solution first, and then address the concerns about what is coming into the lake.
Need volunteers this Sunday at 2:00 to install.
Joe will make an event on Facebook.
Show up at Chad’s 2:00 Sunday.
