Minutes
Meeting called to order by Bryan at: 7:07 pm at Dorothy Brede’s house
1. Last meeting’s minutes were read and approved.
2. Treasurer’s report: Previous balance $6,443.85. Current balance
$4,412.35. Payouts were for picnic and Chad for aeration and electric.
3. Old Business:
a. Weed
Treatment:
i. Craig Mueller, Aquatic Solutions presented. Cost would be $135 per treatment per
50’ – Aquatic Solutions applying.
ii. Self applied: $170 for 2 treatments plus the cost of a permit. Must be
done by June 1.
iii. Permit allows for half of your property up to 50’.
iv. Apply when water is calm, and early. It has to stay for 6 – 8 hours.
v. The DNR has grants for lakes with Curly Leaf. There’s no permit fee and
they treat 100%of shoreline. Grants gone for this year. Could apply for next
year. Would need signatures of every household unless we treat 150’ from shore
only – then no signatures needed. Year one is inspection, year two treat. We
would hire out the inspection, to be done by June 1.
vi. He does treatments with the association, on our boat, so we can learn to
do it ourselves. It takes one hour.
vii. He left sign up sheets and business cards.
b. Sewer
Update:
i. Dorothy reported. Haven’t met with county yet. The committee is Dorothy or alternate Jim from Lake Martha, one Lake Charlotte representative, one off lake representative one Rockford Township representative and two county personnel.
ii. The next meeting is 2/25/20 and both Dorothy and Jim will be out of town. Angela will attend in their place.
c. Overflow
Maintenance:
i. The Spinner proposal is $3500 for 230’ but there is 800’ of overflow,
so we expect it would cost up to $10,000. Site requirements might change the
scope of the work once DNR gets involved.
ii. Alternate Proposal: Rent a mini excavator and see if next door neighbors
would want the excavated material since they have a lot of lowland. If excavated
material is not wanted by neighbors, then an alternate place will be used.
Volunteers bring ATVs with dump buckets to move dirt. Respect that it’s Mr.
Dehmer’s property. Follow whatever he is comfortable with. Contingent upon
approval by the Dehmer’s.
d. Committee
to Research a LID: Invite Charlotte LID people to share their experience.
Caitlin and Lisa Benson will talk to Lonny at Lake Charlotte about it.
e. Membership
Welcoming Committee – tabled until next meeting. Caitlin reported that a
brochure is made.
Meeting adjourned at: 8:28
Next Meeting: March 10, 2020,
